Buttercreme Formula

  • Slate- 20 parts White: 1 part Black
  • Dusted Green- 8 parts White: 1 part Light Green
  • Purple
  • Black
  • Carrot Orange- 8 parts Orange:  1 part Purple
  • Apricot Orange- 1 part Bright Yellow; 1 part Orange; 20 parts White
  • Light Yellow- 1 part Bright Yellow; 5 parts White

Cake Directions

Prepare the white cake mix according to manufacturer’s instructions.  Deposit 1 lb. prepare batter into sprayed and papered 8-inch cake pans.  Bake at 350°F until cake springs back lightly when touched.  Let cool completely.  Fill and crumb coat with white buttercreme.  Ice using prepared slate buttercream, creating a textured finish.  Using small spatulas, “paint” on a floral design using the rest of the colors, letting the design move from the top to the sides of the cake.
